FP Uptake

Pathway

The pathway explores and identifies couples along their reproductive journey, Tracing it from the time of marriage to the end and positions each couple based on where they are along this pathway.

Couples depend on information acquired through cultural osmosis (usually on traditional methods) and only after a rejection or failure of this, they move into the “experimentation phase” using a host of modern methods, sometimes simultaneously. Experimentation is participatory or non- participatory based on the couple dynamics and ends when the couple fulfils the desired family size and opts for a permanent method, in most cases female sterilization.
